These 5" x 5" are from a large ongoing series entitled "Deco Dream Girls" I love painting people, especially women. Whether I’m painting a live model or a faded face on a 1920’s snapshot, there’s always a story behind the eyes. I find the women who inspire my paintings in old snapshot albums. They aren’t famous. They are the women who raised us, taught us, and bandaged our skinned knees. These are the women who sacrificed their youth to care for aged parents while they learned that they could build airplanes as efficiently as birthday cakes. Despite all of our current liberation and education, these women from decades past have much to teach us.
